David Hunter Marks

Funeral Details

Dave’s funeral was everything he hoped it would be, the funeral procession left from home and contained a large number of vehicles. The procession took about 30 mins to reach the crematorium.

The service was attended by around 100 people, the Funeral Directors gave the estimate as their was only seating for 70 in the Chapel. Dave would have been so proud to see so many attend, they included Family, Friends/Neighbours and Work Mates.

The Service was conducted by Mick Scully a member of the Humanist Society, every person I spoke to said how amazing the service was and that they would choose a similar service for themselves.

A Humanist Service is a non Religious Service that allows for those that follow a religion to fully participate. The emphasis is on the deceased, their lives, loves and achievements. I have included a PDF file of the Order Of Service for those that would like to see it.

After the service we went back to the Tudor Court Hotel, I selected this Hotel partly because it was a Tudor style building which Dave would have loved. The Hotel provided Food and Drink with a Waitress Service, the Gardens were available for use (and were well used). There were a number of room made available, this was good as 54 people attended the function. The Hotel also put on a display of Photo’s in the Entrance Hall for everybody to view and remind themselves of those special moments we all enjoyed with Dave. The photo’s were then made available to those who attended to take away with them if they so wished.

I put together a CD of appropriate music, this contained a number of Scottish tracks as well as Jim Reeves amongst many others.

Below is a couple of small Albums of the flowers that were sent from all over the country, Dave would have been especially proud of the flowers from Hunterston House.

My thanks go to all those who helped make this a send off to be remembered and one that Dave would have been so proud of.
