LETTER FROM THE CHIEF

Since my last letter, the double white Narcissi have been shown at the Chelsea Horticultural Show in London on the Royal Horticultural Society's stand, as a new cultivar, but at the moment they are under test. This will continue for a year or two, to make certain they are not an old variety - which is a possibility, although unlikely. Pro tem I am reserving the name Hunterii, and let us hope that it provestobe a new cultivar. I am being looked after at the R.8.S. by a charming lady, Mrs. Sally Kington, who is "The Registrar of Daffodils". I will of course keep you informedas things progress ..

ýIt is becoming clear that many Deputy Clan Officers, who go to Highland Games, do so on their own andhave no help. It would be an enormous advantage if, either the officers could find friends to go with them, or some of the Clan members could volunteer to assist at our tent, and generally. If you feel you could do this, please contact your Deputy Officer or Clan Officer, who will co-ordinate;

ýIt would be a great help if anyone moving house or changing their address could send us their new address. Please also include your old

ý. address, as we can then find it on the computer by sorting. This is necessary because many Clansmen obviously have the same surname, Christian name, and even in some cases initials, but their addresses, both old and new, are unique. The above also applies even if you are

not taking the newsletter as we want to keep in touch ..

read a copy of the "Hunter's Horn",

ýwhich has been produced by Thomas Hunter, I was very impressed with it and I think this is a very good idea.

ýIt is becoming more and more difficult and expensive to produce this magazine, as we are rapidly losing members and only have 140 who are still taking it. The actual cost for this edition is £500 to produce each copy which I cannot afford. I am therefore open to any suggestions. Otherwise, as I have mentioned before, we will have to stop producing the Newsletter, from lack of support.

ýFor everyone in the United States, I would like to make a note of the fact your Clan Officer is:

ýCharles Hunter, PO Box 43062, Cabana Heights Branch, Birmingham, AL 35243, ýand your Deputy Officers are:
