Duke of Edinburgh's Award for Underwater Science

Russell Mullen of the North Wales Marine Study Group receives the Gold Medal of the Duke of Edinburgh's Awardfor Underwater Science.
This award, administered by the British Sub-Aqua Club but adjudicated by the Duke himself, is the most prestigious in the field of amateur diving and is hotly contested.
Russ Mullen and his colleagues received the accolade for ýtheir work in monitoring the marine life in the Menai Straits, between Anglesey and the Welsh mainland, recording its reaction to continuing pollution and bringing their work to the . attention of the public and the responsible authorities. Russ Mullen is the husband of Pauline, daughter of the Clan Chief.
