Dear Kinsfolk,
Well here we are again, at the start of another year . And in this the first Hunters Tryst of 2004, I should like a short re-cap of events that took place in 2003. Away back in January 2003 we celebrated the life of Auld Scotia`s Bard .This was such a fine venue that we went back again this year .
The entertainment was provided by, what was the name of that Band ? “ Something Scottish” ? I hear . The dancing was proud and strictly Scottish, “Nae Cotillion , brent new frae France, but Hornpipes, Gigs, Strathspeys, an` Reels put life an` mettle in their heels” Great fun. { words by Robert Burns} .
And in April, there was another successful A.G.M. This of course being Clan business ,the meeting was convened in the Castle Clan Room. Afterwards we removed to the Sea Mill Hydro, for a meal And yet more entertainment. It was here that the Hunters` wynded their way to that favoured Tryst , an ingle neuk , “Whaur droothy Neebors , Neebors meet” the Bar . { Words by Robert Burns} .
The Castle “Open Doors” day , the first Sunday in September . This event gets better all the time , and this time 2003 seen new arrivals at the Castle .Namely Councillor “ Billy Hunter” brought his Pipe Band to entertain our many visitors . My thanks goes to Billy for that , also the putting in place of the Honours Board which takes pride of place in the Clan Room. Again my thanks to William of West Kilbride for such fine workmanship.
2003 was a fine year, and one that marks my appreciation in every member of Clan Hunter , for their staunch support of our Clan ,and Kindred . Continued on page 2 .

The Gretna Hall Hotel
The Burns night / weekend is turning into quite an annual event , again it was well attended a total of 15 attended this year. The Friday night turned to be a full evening more people attending on the first night than last year , those present are listed below . Madam Pauline, of Hunterston, Gordon & Eleanor Hunter,[Tyne on Weir] Duncan & Jean Hunter, [Preston ] Ian & Elsie Hunter [Preston] David &Peter Hunter, [Birmingham ] Robert Hunter [Perth ] Bruce & Ann Cowie .from [Kirriemuir]. Tom Connor a new member [ Renfrew] Robert & Ellen Hunter [ Blantyre ]. As you can see members travelled quite some distance for the get together , I believe all felt it well worth the trip. As to the cost you would be hard pressed to get a more economical weekend , even more so for those of us that took the advantage of the full three days this year . The food was great, the company was great, and yes , we dressed for Friday night Partly it should said so that David could show off his newcontinued on page two
